The House Corporation Board of Gamma Phi Beta at the University of Alabama is recruiting for the position of House Director for its residential facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the 2011 - 2012 academic year. The chapter house is a home for the Epsilon Lambda collegiate chapter of the first International Womenâ€s Sorority known as Gamma Phi Beta.

The House Director fosters and maintains a safe and productive environment for members and residents through oversight of vendors, management of budget, event and meal planning, coordination of routine maintenance and day-to-day personnel and facility management, supervising the activities of the household employees. The House Director provides feedback to, and problem solves in conjunction with, the chapter members and advisory boards. The House Director is a live-in position and also includes salary and benefits for a 10 month period, from August 1, 2011 through May 15, 2012

Specific Duties
• Serve as the chapter hostess and promote gracious living standards.
• Ensure the chapter house remains a clean, orderly and safe environment and report issues in a timely manner.
• Reports to the Board areas needing improvements, household repairs and replacements.
• Coordinate day-to-day facility management and small repairs.
• Schedule and conduct the opening and closing of the chapter house according to the Universityâ€s calendar.
• Support the staff and work with chapter officers on menu planning, food ordering health and safety compliance, equipment and supplies.
• Serve as on-site contact for contractors and vendors while maintaining a professional working relationship.
• Hire and supervise kitchen, cleaning and maintenance staff.
• Work within budget guidelines for the house.
• Help to ensure the safety of the house occupants and enforce house rules and regulations as mandated by the collegiate chapter, national organization and university.
• Be available to assist, advise, counsel and refer chapter members to appropriate resources as needed, if requested by chapter members.
• Live on site during all academic periods
• Act as liaison for all campus activities involving house directors.
• Foster positive relationships with chapter members and encourage sisterhood and enforcement of house rules

Qualifications
Excellent organization and communication abilities, basic budget planning, knowledge of email, Microsoft Outlook and Excel, with previous property management experience a plus. Desired traits would be a positive solution – focused attitude and the ability to interact professionally discretely and diplomatically with student, parents, alumnae, vendors and community resources. Enjoyment from working with college age women, patience, flexibility and a sense of humor are beneficial.

Prerequisites
1. Bachelors degree (or equivalent preferred)
2. Experience working with Greek Letter Organizations (preferred)
3. 5 or more years post-collegiate work experience in related field (preferred)
4. Experience in property/facilities management, food service, counseling, or human services
5. Budget and financial management at an organizational level
6. Applicants must be willing to relocate to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and remain in chapter house overnight 7 days a week for the duration of the assignment.
7. Applicant must be willing to submit to a comprehensive background check prior to employment.
