The Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Phi Sorority at Kent State University is seeking a mature, non-smoker, full-time, live-in female House Director for the 2013-2014 academic year. The sorority house is located off campus of Kent State University on Fraternity Circle.
Under the direction of the House Corporation Board, the House Directorâ€s primary responsibility is to manage a gracious, well-organized, fiscally sound, safe and secure, smoothly operating sorority house.
The House Director works with the sororityâ€s leadership and the House Corporation to oversee the successful implementation of Alpha Phiâ€s housing mission, philosophy, and risk management policies and procedures.
General Responsibilities:
Represent the sorority with excellence within the Kent State community
Maintain a clean, orderly, smoothly operating sorority house
Communicate clearly with sorority members, staff, board members, and University personnel
Comply with all health, safety, and fire codes of Kent, Ohio and Kent State University
Work with other staff members
Coordinate maintenance work and repairs on the house
Oversee successful vendor relationships
Open and close the house at the beginning and end of the school year
Oversee resident move-in and move-out
Ensure the safety and welfare of the women in the house
Supervise dining room meals
Be able to work in tandem with the Food Service Manager and, in the event of a short-term absence, provide simple meals for the chapter members.
Communicate any house-related issues to the House Corporation Board in a timely manner
Qualified candidates should have the ability to manage a budget, maintain records, supervise staff, and enforce fire and safety codes. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and relate well with college women. Flexibility, the ability to “think outside of the box,” and proactive problem-solving skills are all desired traits. Candidates need to be able to climb 3 flights of stairs daily and should be comfortable using email and Microsoft Word and Excel.
The House Director is provided with a furnished, private apartment in the Alpha Phi chapter house. An assigned parking space and meal plan are provided, along with utilities and wireless internet. No pets or children are permitted to live in the chapter house.
