Job Summary:
The House Director fosters and maintains a safe and productive environment for residents through oversight of multiple service providers, coordination of routine maintenance and day-to-day facility management and supervising the activities of the household employees. The House Director provides feedback to and problem solves in conjunction with the housing team (to include chapter and National representatives).
Specific Duties:
• Serves as the chapter hostess and promotes gracious living standards.
• Ensures the chapter house remains a clean, orderly and safe environment and reports issues in a timely manner.
• Recommends areas needing capital improvements, household repairs and replacements.
• Coordinates day-to-day facility management, small repairs and maintenance with the chapter and National Housing Corporation.
• Schedules and conducts the opening and closing of the chapter house.
• Supports the cook/food staff with meal planning and food budgeting.
• Serves as on-site contact for contractors and vendors while maintaining a professional working relationship.
• Assists National Housing Corporation in the budgeting and planning.
• Hires, with National Headquarters approval, and supervises kitchen, cleaning and maintenance staff.
• Works within budgeted guidelines for the house.
• Helps to ensure the safety of the house occupants and enforce house rules and regulations as mandated by the collegiate chapter, National organization and university.
• Lives on site during all academic periods, specifically, but not limited to, sleeping nightly at the house.
• Acts as liaison for all campus activities involving house directors.
Qualifications:
Excellent organization and communication abilities, basic budget planning, knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel, with previous property management experience a plus. Desired traits would be a positive solution – focused attitude and the ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with students, parents, alumnae, service providers and community resources. Enjoyment from working with college age women, patience, flexibility and a sense of humor are beneficial.
