The Iota chapter of Alpha Xi Delta at the West Virginia University is seeking a full time, female, live-in House Director for the 2014-2015 academic year. The chapter has 33 live in residents with 115+ active collegiate members.
Job Summary:
The House Director serves as the chapter hostess and promotes gracious living standards. She fosters and maintains a safe and productive environment for residents through oversight of multiple service providers, coordinates routine maintenance and day-to-day facility management and supervises the activities of the household employees. The House Director provides feedback to, and problem solves in conjunction with, the housing team which includes the National Housing Corporation.
The House Director lives in the chapter facility in the House Director suite. The House Director is also provided a meal plan, an assigned parking space and utilities that include cable and wireless internet.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Working within provided budgets to procure household supplies
• Recommending areas needing capital improvements, household repairs and replacements
• Supervising housekeeping staff (when applicable) and supporting the cook/food staff with meal/menu planning for regular dining and special events
• Reporting to the chapter advisors and House Manager regularly, providing assistance for housing-related issues
• Scheduling and conducting the opening and closing of the chapter house, as well as room inspections at move-in and move-out
• Coordinating facility maintenance and serving as the on-site contact for vendors
• Ensuring the chapter house remains a clean, orderly and safe environment and reports issues in a timely manner to the property manager
• Helping ensure the safety of the house occupants by supporting house rules and regulations as mandated by the collegiate chapter, the national organization, the university and responding to emergencies as needed
Qualifications:
It is desirable that the House Director candidate has a college degree, and property management and/or House Director experience is preferable. She must have excellent organization and communication abilities, basic budget planning skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Desired traits include a positive, solution –oriented attitude with the ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with students, parents, alumnae, service providers and community resources. Candidates must enjoy working with college-aged women, be patient, flexible and have a sense of humor. The candidate must be trustworthy, able to keep confidential information private and will be required to pass a background check. The facility is alcohol-free, pet-free and smoke-free.
