• Job description:
The Gamma Phi Beta Sorority house in Springfield, MO is looking to find a special woman to fulfill the position of House Director for a house of 48 live-in members and another 80+ live-out members. This chapter is moving into a beautiful, brand new facility, built just for them, during the summer of 2013.
• Applicant must have a self-motivated work ethic, excellent communication, social, organizational and managerial skills
• Should be skilled in basic budget planning, knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Work and Excel
• Must have an easy going, positive attitude with patience and flexibility
• Able to use rational judgment when making decisions and prioritizing tasks
• A calm, cool head and a sense of humor are a must, as she must be able to understand the unique demands of college women
• Able to interact professionally and diplomatically with parents, students, alumnae, service providers and community resources
• Must be able to walk up and down stairs and be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Attend events with other Sorority & Fraternity House Directors to discuss the health, safety and well-being of all chapter members as needed
• Keep posted open door hours when the House Director is available for drop-in visits from chapter members
• Work with the Chapterâ€s House Manager with in-house concerns and protocol
• Work with other officers as required for scheduling and managing of events held in the house
• Attend events at the chapter house in which there are adult guests
• Coordinate routine maintenance with the property owner or designated subcontractor
• Assist with the coordination and execution of the opening and closing of the house each term including but not exclusive of helping open/close the kitchen, some cleaning, packing of items and assisting the cook and House Corporation Board volunteers as necessary
• Be able to maintain confidentiality
• Must enjoy being with and respect the needs of college age women
• Observe House Rules and House Corporation Board policies and procedures and report, as necessary, to the House Corporation Board any serious violations.
• Remain in the chapter house overnight 7 days a week
• Have a “do what it takes to get the task done” attitude and be willing to assist the cook and be comfortable in the kitchen, if required.

• The Gamma Phi Beta house and property is alcohol-free, smoke-free and pet-free
• House Director, college, property management experience and/or sorority affiliation a plus

Additional Information
• Primary Responsibility: Ensure that the Chapter House Facility is running in a safe and secure manner and that House Corporation Board property is not being misused.

• Other responsibilities: The House Director will perform a variety of tasks to ensure smooth, daily operations of the facility. This includes working within provided budgets, acting as a hostess (when requested), complying with all policies/rules/laws/etc., reporting to the House Corporation Board regularly, supervision of housekeeping, procurement of house supplies and assisting with/organizing the opening and closing of the house each term. The House Director will work with the House Manager as needed.

• Additional responsibilities include, but are not exclusive of, hiring and discharging of household employees within board guidelines and supervising the duties of employees and hired contractors; day to day facility management; working with alumnae volunteers on household repairs, projects and upkeep; assisting the cook in crunch times, if required; putting out breakfast each weekday morning; assisting, if necessary, dish clean-up after breakfast; alerting House Corporation Board of any security issues; ensure the safety of the house and occupants; be on-hand during recruitment and provide snacks for Panhellenic Guides in HD quarters during parties; other duties as lined out by House Corporation board for day-to-day tasks; be abreast of the chapter calendar; help maintain a cohesive, working relationship with cook(s), cook assistants, women of the house and alumnae volunteers; Supervise any foodservice deliveries to the facility in the absence of the cook.

• Skills and Abilities required: Must be able to work in a college environment and with young women in a harmonious manner. Must be able to climb stairs on a regular basis to reach other floors of the facility and lift up to 25 lbs. Must have basic computer skills, including email and word processing skills. Must be in good health, have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and able to use rational judgment when making decisions and prioritizing tasks. Must be trustworthy and able to keep confidential information private. Must be organized. Must be able to remain calm in emergency situations.

• About this position: This is a contract position from August 1, 2013to June 30, 2014 with the possibility of renewal starting July 1, 2014. Salary is paid on the 1st and 15th of each month. The House Director reports directly to the House Corporation Board volunteers and must have a positive working relationship with the women of the chapter

• The Facility is a brand new facility that will house 48 women, hold chapter meetings and chapter events. The House Director is expected to keep posted open door hours when she is available for drop in visits from chapter members, have an open-door policy, and be available during the weekdays to oversee day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will have prior experience (life experience is taken into consideration), be a high school graduate and be ready with a positive, can-do attitude.
