The Resident House Director is the on-site representative of the chapter. She is expected to be available for new members or active members, be knowledgeable of all appropriate University and house rules and be able to respond to emergency situations as they arise.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The House Director shall perform such services as are prescribed in the Alpha Phi Corporation Manual. These services shall include, but not be limited to the following:

• Supervision of the chapter house, including order and attractiveness, general house maintenance, safety standards, and compliance with University and the chapter rules and regulations.
• Reside year round in the private apartment that is provided and agree to be available as needed.
• Schedule appointments and be present for service person as needed
• Cooperation with the chapter officers in maintaining standards of behavior including compliance with visitation hours, house rules and procedures, and Alpha Phi International standing rules.
• The House Director is the first point of contact in the event of an emergency situation at the chapter house and is responsible for calling EMS and notifying members of the House Corporation Board.
• Cooperate with local, district, and Alpha International Fraternity officers in carrying out the duties of the House Director.

HOUSE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise the chapter facility, including the maintenance of order and attractiveness, general facility maintenance, safety standards and compliance with University, Chapter, and Corporation rules and regulations. Cooperation with the Director of Chapter Facilities and other officers to ensure regular performance of house duties assigned to chapter members.
• Supervise contracted services in accord with the policies of the Corporation.
• Oversee repairs and contract for repairs up to $300.00.
• The House Director will conduct fire drills each semester and supervise the house security, to include nightly security and closing of the house during academic breaks.
• In cooperation with the Food Service Manager, supervise the house-boys for regular attendance, performance, and conduct at the dinner meals.
• The House Director will join and supervise the evening meal, except when prior arrangements are made through the House Corporation or chapter officers.
• The House Director shall assist with local grocery shopping and general errands upon request.
• Monitor use of consumables such as toilet paper, paper towels, copier paper, and toner within the common areas of the chapter house and purchase supplies accordingly.
• The House Director is in charge of performing the check-out procedure for each student resident upon termination of residency at the end of either the fall or spring semester.
• Dispense change to in-house members for the laundry facilities, empty monies from the machines and turn over the money to House Corporation Board as needed.
• Assist with minor maintenance landscape such as watering flowers and turning on sprinklers.
• Interact with chapter members, parents, and guests in an effort to foster a “home-like” atmosphere.
• As hostess of the house, the House Director is to be present at all functions given by the chapter except those which may be attended by members only. The House Director shall oversee the special occasion events funded by House Corporation.

• Be able to work in tandem with the Food Service Manager and, in the event of a short-term absence, provide simple meals for the chapter members.
• Hold regular house meetings for communication and general information purposes.
• Maintain the emergency contact forms and “overnight guest” book for the chapter house.
