House Director Position

• Date the position begins: Immediately
• Job description: The beautiful Gamma Phi Beta house in Cheney, Washington, is looking to find a special woman to fulfill the position of House Director for a house of 30+ live-in members and another 35+ live-out members.
• Applicant must have a self-motivated work ethic, excellent communication, social, organizational, and managerial skills.
• Should be skilled in basic budget planning, knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Have an easy going, positive attitude, patience and flexibility
• Able to use rational judgment when making decisions and prioritizing tasks
• A calm, cool head and a sense of humor are a must, as she must be able to understand the unique demands of college women
• Able to interact professionally and diplomatically with parents, students, alumnae, service providers, and community resources
• Able to walk up stairs
• Attend events with other Sorority & Fraternity House Directors to discuss the health, safety and well-being of all chapter members, as needed
• Keep posted open door hours when the House Director is available for drop in visits from chapter members
• The ideal candidate will have prior experience (life experience is taken into consideration), be a high school graduate and be ready with a positive attitude.
• Attend events at chapter house in which there are adult guests
• Coordinate routine maintenance with the designated contractor
• Assist with/organize the opening and closing of the house each term
• Work with the chapterâ€s House Manager as needed
• Be able to maintain confidentiality
• Must enjoy being with college-aged women
• Observe house rules and House Corporation Board policies and procedures
• Remain in the chapter house overnight 7 days a week
• Responsibilities include supervising the duties of employees and hired contractors; day to day facility management and working with alumnae volunteers on household repairs, projects, and upkeep. She will help to ensure the safety of the house occupants.
• Benefits include annual salary paid semi monthly, room and board, which includes all utilities, internet, private apartment and bathroom,
• House Director will have school holidays off and one weekend a month when there is no holiday vacation.
• The Gamma Phi Beta House is a non-alcohol and non-smoking facility
• No pets allowed
• House Director, college, property management experience and/or sorority affiliation a plus
• Cook provides food services for the Gamma Phi Beta house.

Primary Responsibility: Ensure that the Chapter House Facility is running in a safe and secure manner and that Corporation property is not being misused.

Other Responsibilities: The House Director will perform a variety of tasks to ensure smooth daily operations of the facility. This includes working within provided budgets, acting as a hostess (when requested), complying with all policies/rules/laws/etc, reporting to the chapter advisor regularly, supervision of housekeeping, procurement of house supplies, and assisting with/organizing the opening and closing of the house each term. The House Director will also work with the House Manager as needed.

Skills & Abilities Required: Must be able to work in a college environment and with young women in a harmonious manner. Must be able to climb stairs on a regular basis to reach other floors of the facility and lift up to 25lbs. Must have basic computer skills, including email and word processing skills. Must be in good health, have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and able to use rational judgment when making decisions and prioritizing tasks. Must be trustworthy and able to keep confidential information private. Must be organized. Must be able to remain calm in emergency situations.

About This Position: This is a contract position from the months of July 1 through June 30. (salary is paid on the 15th and last day of the month). The House Director reports to the House Corporation Board.

The house can accommodate up to 33 women, comprised of cold dorms and sleepers; day rooms and night rooms. The House Director is expected to keep posted open door hours when they are available for drop in visits from chapter members. The ideal candidate will have prior experience (life experience is taken into consideration), be a high school graduate and be ready with a positive attitude.

Benefits: The House Director will be provided a furnished two room suite with private bathroom. The House Director has an assigned parking space. Basic utilities provided include electric, water/sewer, local phone, basic cable and wireless internet.
