The Kappa Xi chapter of Sigma Kappa at the University of Nevada - Reno, is seeking a full-time, live-in House Director to begin employment August 2014. The House Director oversees the House and works closely with the House Board and Chapter House Manager during the academic year. She is provided with a meal plan, utilities, phone, cable, wireless internet, and an assigned parking space.

The House Director candidate must first and foremost enjoy working in a college environment with young women. Patience, flexibility, a positive attitude, and a good sense of humor are appreciated traits. Ultimately, the candidate should have the personal skills to interact professionally and diplomatically with sorority members, parents, alumnae, service providers, and community resources.

She should have excellent organizational and communication abilities, be able to set and work within a budget, and ideally have basic computer skills including email, word processing, and spreadsheet skills.

Duties include:

*Live on site during all academic periods, specifically, but not limited to, sleeping nightly at the house.

*Provide a mature, positive, and professional presence in the chapter house.

*Act as a liaison between the chapter and a variety of constituencies such as the Housing Board, Chapter Advisors, and university and community officials.

*Ensure the chapter house remains a clean, orderly and safe environment and report issues in a timely manner to the Housing Board.

*Help ensure the safety of the house occupants by supporting house rules and regulations as mandated by the collegiate chapter, the national organization, and the university.
*Respond to emergencies as needed.

*Supervise House Department employees: the house cleaner, cook, and other part-time employees; serve as an on-site contact for vendors.

*Support the cook/food staff with meal/menu planning for regular dining and for special events.

*Order food and supplies, working within budgeted guidelines.

*Coordinate with the Facility Maintenance Supervisor routine maintenance service and fire and safety inspections. Approve sub-contractor work.

*Pay bills and keep records of receipts and expenditures.

*Supervise the opening and closing of the house.

The House Director's position is a Full time position which will require 40 hours per week. The House Director will be provided with partial meals and private living quarters. The living quarters includes a bedroom, bathroom, cable TV, bathroom, and private entrance.
